Heh. Great points. Not to mention I don't even think an OS, site, or specific link was mentioned.
Many sites offer downloading; some prevent it. Some vary (like Youtube). Assuming there's no obvious "download this video" link, the next thing I try is a free Firefox addon DownloadHelper. If that doesn't work the best I can do is record the pixels on the display itself with Snagit (pay$).

I think I get it now - they want to _capture_ (download or screen grab) the video off a web page, correct?
For downlaoding you need the URL of the actual video file (not just the player app embedded in the web page). There are web sites that allow you to download some embedded videos if you enter the URL of the embed page. For screen-grabbing, the important thing is not so much the specific software used, but how much RAM your computer has.
I think the trick is to 'hijack' the video whilst it is stored in a cache file (as they usually are for streaming video/audio. I used to use an app called 'Replay ...' (various 'suites', you can find them at http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/) which seemed to work pretty well with the BBC content. I say used because I had to completely re-install the OS in my 'office' computer a while ago and I determined to only reinstall apps as I needed them, and I haven't needed to use this since. I suspect this sort of game will need continual updating to stay ahead of the DRM police!! FWIW Perry Mitchell ________________________ From: Jon Burkhart

Are you looking for the best way to _record_ this video, or the best way to _stream_ it?
And - do you mean real-time "streaming" or just "online video"?
