The event will take place October 11-12 in Yerevan, Armenia and will bring together bloggers, new media professionals, IT specialists, companies involved in Internet and digital technologies, journalists and journalism students as well as any other groups interested in using technology and Internet in their work. The event will focus on Armenian blogs, however, participants will be welcome from around the world – as long as they have something to contribute and to gain from the BarCamp self-learning process. Tentatively, around 200 are expected to attend the event (roughly two thirds will be locals from Armenia, the rest are expected from other USSR countries, as well as international new-media experts). As with most of other BarCamps around the world, a significant amount of funding would be needed to provide travel grants for the potentially interesting and useful international participants. A lot of impact will be put on gaining commercial sponsors for the project and forging partnerships with restaurants, hotels and universities to cover the expenses for a suitable venue, presentation equipment, WiFi internet access, etc. A range of commercial and non-commercial funders will be approached within the next few weeks. A local initiative team has already been formed, bringing together a number of bloggers and new media professionals from Armenia. The team at the moment are: Gegham Vardanyan, Anna Simonyan, Artur Papyan, Samvel Martirosyan, Onnik Krikoryan, Mikayel Kazaryan, Alexey Chalabyan, Tigran Kocharyan. More people have expressed readiness to actively support the initiative bringing their volunteer contribution Everyone is encouraged and welcome to join the main organizational team or help with anything they can.
